BREAKING: In this episode of BHN Talk Radio Show, Julia Ann Dudley Najieb, Cheryl Smith and Brigitte Jones review the NBC News report regarding Rudy Giuliani: A federal judge in New York has ordered Giuliani to turn over his valuables and luxury New York City apartment to the two Georgia election workers he defamed.
In a decision released Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Lewis Litman ordered Giuliani to transfer personal property "including cash accounts, jewelry and valuables, a legal claim for unpaid attorneys’ fees, and his interest in his Madison Avenue co-op apartment to a receivership" within seven days.
Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss filed an action to seize the former New York City mayor's assets in August in an effort to begin collecting on the $146 million in damages they were awarded last year after a judge found Giuliani liable for repeatedly defaming them. Giuliani had falsely accused the pair of election fraud after the 2020 presidential election.
Next, the five men who make up the Central Park Five and now call themselves the Exonerated Five have filed a defamation lawsuit against Donald Trump over his remarks during the presidential debate last month.
The lawsuit focuses on the Sept. 10 debate in Pennsylvania, where Trump said the five men — Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise — pleaded guilty when they were tried in connection with the assault and rape of a woman who had been running in Central Park on April 19, 1989, and that the victim had died.
During the debate he said: "They admitted — they said, they pled guilty. And I said, well, if they pled guilty they badly hurt a person, killed a person ultimately. And if they pled guilty — then they pled we’re not guilty."
At the time of the trials, each had pleaded not guilty, and the victim of the attack survived.
The complaint said Trump's statements are "demonstrably false," adding: "Plaintiffs never pled guilty to any crime and were subsequently cleared of all wrongdoing. Further the victims of the Central Park assaults were not killed." The complaint further said that the men, now in their 50s, have "suffered injuries as a result of Defendant Trump’s false and defamatory statements."
GREEN WATCH: Nigerians are building earthquake proof homes using reusable plastic bottles, according to Upworthy News. The dumping of plastic has become one of the biggest environmental issues, but Nigeria is showing the world an amazing way to repurpose plastic for a better future. Nigerian companies are now using plastic bottles to build homes that can withstand powerful earthquakes and even bullets. The technology is called the "bottle brick." The first house to be built using recycled plastic bottles was in the village of Yelwa. The house has become a tourist attraction, with government officials and traditional leaders visiting to see the marvel. The eco-friendly home was built with nothing but plastic bottles, sand and mud, reported Power of Positivity.
The bottles are filled with sand and the bottom of the bottle is kept facing outside, giving a unique look to the wall. They are used as "bricks" and laid on top of each other and held together by mud. While houses in most places around the world are traditionally built in a square shape, it's common for homes in Nigeria to be built in a circular fashion. The homes using the "bottle brick" method are also built circularly, keeping them in style with the other homes in the region. While the homes are beautifully designed, the idea is to preserve the environment by repurposing plastic.
MORE NEWS: The Harris Campaign is finding a way to reach Black men; according to The Nation online news magazine, reports that polls and surveys showed that Donald Trump made small inroads with Black male voters in 2016 and chipped away further at the Democrats’ historic advantage with that demographic in 2020.
Democrats are prone to speak and act as if Black men who do not support the Democratic Party are guilty of an act of racial betrayal.
Speaking to a group of committed Harris supporters who were volunteering for her campaign, Obama oddly went out of his way to castigate Black men for hesitating to support a female presidential candidate.
FEATURE INTERVIEW: Here's a recap of Project 2025 and what Black men feel about it on the spot
While many have heard Project 2025 is an extremist blueprint for the next Republican president, many have not read it. So we decided to do something about it. We spoke to Black men in various parts of the community and had them read excerpts from Project 2025 and share their raw reactions. Then we broke it down with the help of UCLA Professor Dr. Tyrone Howard. The result? A spirited dialogue about how various policy agendas including education, abortion rights, the death penalty and more will directly affect the Black community and why it's a must, we get out and vote.
