'Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody' cast discuss their characters and favorite music

Whitney Houston fans and supporters can watch the biopic on Netflix

The stars of “Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody” discuss their biopic in this interview with CinemaBlend's Sarah El-Mahmoud. They discuss their research on their characters, how they got access to Whitney Houston’s masters, their favorite performances from the film, and much more!

Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody is a powerful and triumphant celebration of the incomparable Whitney Houston. Directed by Kasi Lemmons, written by Academy Award® nominee Anthony McCarten, produced by legendary music executive Clive Davis and starring BAFTA Award® winner Naomi Ackie, the film is a no-holds-barred portrait of the complex and multifaceted woman behind "The Voice."

From New Jersey choir girl to one of the best-selling and most awarded recording artists of all time, audiences are taken on an inspirational, poignant—and so emotional—journey through Houston’s trailblazing life and career, with show-stopping performances and a soundtrack of the icon’s most beloved hits as you’ve never heard them before.

Whitney Elizabeth Houston (August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012) was an American singer and actress. Nicknamed "The Voice", she is one of the bestselling music artists of all time, with over 200 million records sold worldwide.

I Wanna Dance with Somebody was released to Netflix in the US in April 2023. Thanks to a first window deal with Sony Pictures, the company's movies head straight to Netflix around four months after their theatrical run.

The Whitney Houston biopic is available on Netflix India too, but it doesn’t seem as if the film will arrive in territories like the UK and Canada on Netflix for a few more years.

However, it is possible to purchase the movie through Amazon Prime Video, to buy or to rent, in most other locations.
